The Danish Furnituremakers Quality Control is an association of leading Danish furniture manufacturers. Its objective is to guarantee consumers and retailers a perfect product and a level of quality, which fulfills the strict requirements for material and workmanship, laid down in the articles of the association.
The Department of Wood Technology at the Technological Institute ensures that the requirements for materials and workmanship are observed - partly by unannounced visits to member factories and partly by testing of randomly chosen furniture. Because of this, the Danish Furnituremakers Quality Control label has become a guarantee, both for the consumer and for the retailer, and an assurance that the furniture will be able to live up to all reasonable expectations.
The members of the association have undertaken to repair or replace any item if there is a justified complaint.
At the Institute of Technology, products selected at random during visits to members of the Control Association are continually being tested. The chairs for instance, are loaded with 70 Kg, tipped forwards and backwards until they break down. The highest norm of quality implies, that a chair should be able to endure 60,000 tippings, but as a typical example of Danish quality, many manufacturers exceed this considerably more.
